Our Mission

A sustainable relationship with an inland water system is indispensable to the development of our society in this century. It would be especially hard to establish how to conserve and restore an ecological system in a river, because it involves the interdisciplinary fields of ecology and civil engineering.

The ARRC was established to conduct various research regarding inland water environment in order to conserve and restore "biological diversity" in streams, rivers, lakes and marshes, etc.
Research has been carried out from fundamental to applicable fields and the results are expected to be used widely for saving aquatic organisms.

The interaction between "morphology," "water," "organisms" and "humankind" regarding inland water is emphasized through all the research subjects at the ARRC. This interaction will facilitate us to develop appropriate management policies for inland water systems.
